40 Years Ago August 25, 1983 Mrs. Kay Nettleship will head the San Saba Band Booster Club for the 1983-84 term. She was elected president when the club met. Other officers for the coming year are Judy McCoy, vice-president; Linda Hardy, secretary-treasurer; and Carol Letbetter, reporter.

For years, I’ve heard people ask about chicken pox and mad cow disease. Let’s talk about the fowls first. I can find no evidence that chickens cause the disease. In fact, chickens I have asked just stare at me quizzically (a normal expression for a chicken).

HCCW September Information Fair

Mason - San Saba ~ August 17, 2023 Receipts totaled 1,899 head. The market continued to be active this week with stocker steers $4-$6 higher, and stocker heifers were $2-$3 higher. Feeder steers were steady with 2 steers 693 lbs at $250.00 ($1732.

Flames shoot up, smoke billows, the town holds its breath

Thursday afternoon, August 17, 2023, the city of San Saba was scrambling. The San Saba Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fire on West Wallace Street. Shortly thereafter, several other VFDs were called in to help.

Fire Event in San Saba

Thursday afternoon, the city of San Saba was scrambling. The San Saba Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fire on West Wallace Street. Shortly thereafter, other VFDs were called in to help - several other VFDs. News outlets as far as Waco, Austin, San Angelo reported on the fire yesterday.
