Texas receives $60M to strengthen electricity grid

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced on July 6 that the Texas Division of Emergency Management will receive $60.6 million to help utilities strengthen infrastructure on the state’s electricity grid. The grant funds will help identify gaps in grid resilience and minimize disruption to normal grid operations during weather events with weatherization and modeling technologies, as well as vegetation and fuel load management.

The funding is part of a $207.6 million pot of money going to nine states and three tribal nations in Grid Resilience State and tribal Formula Grants. Other states set to receive funding include California, Oregon, Michigan, and Kansas.
