Richland Springs scored 30 points to end up tied with Sands for fifth place in the team standings.
The Coyotes ran third in the 4x100 relay and got a silver medal from Jadeyn Bryant and a bronze from Zane Capps.
Capps was third in the 100 – along with a fourth-place finish in the long jump -- while Bryant was second in the 300 hurdles. Both ran on the sprint relay.
“We had a pretty good handoff,” said Capps, a junior who ran anchor leg. “We’ve struggled with handoffs all year. I almost caught whoever was in front of me, I think it was purple, but we got third.”
Capps said he was pleasantly surprised by the medal performance in a season-best time of 44.08.
“I think it surprised all of us. I came in thinking maybe fifth or fourth, but I didn’t think a medal, honestly.
Capps ran a PR of 10.81, .13 seconds faster than his best this year.
Bryant, a junior who started off the sprint relay, ran a PR 40.02 in the intermediate hurdles but was disappointed with the finish.
“I felt great on the start and I came around the curve and felt like all odds were in my favor, but then the second-to-last hurdle just got me,” he said.
Nick Nilson and Landon Burkhart rounded out the Coyote relay.
