The Richland Springs Report

Welcome to Aril Fool’s Day. I hope you were not pranked. I expect a few of my more daring students will try some prank to bend my day. I may return the favor. Perhaps I will tell them we’ll have a big test on Thursday and have it printed and ready to go. Since they don’t read directions, I’ll put a “if you read this, follow my directions. Put your name on the paper and turn it in for a perfect grade,” somewhere around question five. That might be a double prank.

If you didn’t get to attend the play presented by our One Act Play students, you missed a wonderful meal and an impressive play. The comments I heard were positive calling the play and the actors “powerful and touching.” Congratulations to all actors and directors. Many thanks to Miss Bea for her delicious meal, and to all the parents who assisted with the serving.

Debbie Phelan has put out the call for volunteers to assist with the Convoy of Hope on the 30th. There will be several trucks and hundreds of people showing up to share in the bounty. Local food banks including the one at First Baptist Richland Springs will also benefit from the consumer goods being provided by the government.

First Baptist will have an Easter egg hunt after service next Sunday. Please remember the food bank is open to anyone in the Richland Springs area, not just for church members. This is a community service.

Coach Watkins has posted there will be a track meet on April 2nd in Priddy. Our track team is doing well. One Act Play will head to Marble Falls on Tuesday to compete in the Bi-District Competition. We wish them all the best on their journey to state. ACT testing is also on Tuesday. Mrs. Petty will be taking students on college and career day Wednesday. The end of the six weeks will be Thursday. All work from students must be in by Wednesday since grades are due Thursday. That means we are entering the final six weeks of school! Please note that there is no school on Good Friday, but qualifying athletes will travel to Austin for the Texas Relays at the University of Texas. Best of luck to our runners.

Trade Days are just a couple of weeks away. Jason has done an excellent pre-event publishing for this yearly event. It sounds as if there will be many new vendors this year. Come one, come all. This is a fun day trip. It’s amazing to see the talents of local vendors and craftspeople. I’m sure there is still room if you are a vendor and want to participate. Please contact Jason Lewis for more information. One of the participants will be the Senior Class. They will be holding a crawfish boil fund-raiser. If you are fond of those smelly little mud grubbers, stop by and enjoy.

We are a few short weeks from STAAR testing. I’m positive I’m not the only teacher who has said take your materials home and study. Please check your student. Studying gives your student a better chance of passing these state-mandated tests.

Please pray for rain. Pray for our community, our state, our country, our government and especially an end to this madness in Iran. Pray for our battered President, our struggling unpaid TSA agents, and other Homeland Security workers. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.

Happy Easter everyone.
