Downtown Revitalization Project has begun!

You may have noticed E. Commerce Street blocked off between S. Cherokee and S. High Street. The Street Department has started the demolition process on the Sidewalk Improvement, also known as the Downtown Revitalization Project.

City Manager Scott Edmonson has been giving the City Council updates in their monthly meetings, and Demo Time is finally here!

Last week, you saw photos of Street Department Supervisor Luis Rios operating the Backhoe (removing the sidewalk) and Lucas Watson, Street Department Employee, operating the Bobcat picking up the debris on our front page. What you didn't see in the photo was Darrel Lackey, Street Department Employee, operating the Dump Truck hauling off debris.

The Downtown Revitalization Project is made possible through grant monies, the Sidewalk Improvements Grant, which is funded by Texas Department of Agriculture.

The total Grant Funds are $500,000.00 with a $75,000.00 match from the City.

We will try to keep you informed on the progress of the Sidewalk Improvements in downtown San Saba!

You can also hear updates in this and other San Saba projects at the monthly City Council meetings. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, August 13, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 303 S. Clear, San Saba, Texas 76877.
