Mrs. Lucille Ellis was elected President of the San Saba County Historical Museum Foundation for 1994-95 at the annual membership meeting at the Museum Building. Other officers elected were Vice President - Laverne Drews, Secretary - Bonnie Harkey, Treasurer - David Williams, Memorials - Catherine Hiilsmeier, Reporter - Kay McKee, Historian - Annie Lena Sullivan, Parliamentarian - Helen Terry, Curators - Sara Lambert and Pauline McCarty.
Brandi Shelton of Richland Springs I.S.D. has qualified for the state honor crew for one-act play. She will serve on the crew for the state meet. Brandi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Shelton of Richland Springs.
Rev. Etheridge Brazil was honored at a luncheon on April 24, 1994, on his 98th birthday by a large group of his family.
Mrs. Rosa Behrens was honored on her 89th birthday on April 22 with an outdoor luncheon given by family.
The Kindergartners have been studying plants this week. The children are so excited because they are expecting the plants to arrive any time. You see, they planted beans and their teachers assured them plants would emerge in a few days. They plan to watch them grow next week while they are studying about birds.
While tearing down an old fence at the Terry Cemetery, Hunter Hibler found four old newspapers stuffed into a pipe on the fence by the gate. The papers belonged to A. B. Terry and were 1959 editions of The San Saba Star, The Brownwood Bulletin, The San Angelo Standard Times, and The Fort Worth Star Telegram. The papers bore 4¢ stamps, and a price of 5¢ each.

On April 23-24, 2004, Maile Williams, competing in Poetry, and Rosemary Soto, competing in Informative Speaking and Ready Writing, participated in the Regional UIL Meet at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Advancing to the State UIL Meet was Rosemary Soto as a wildcard participant in Ready Writing.
Natasia Jackson, a junior at Cherokee High School qualified as State Finalist at the Region 11-A Track and Field Meet in Abilene in the 100M Dash. She came in second with a time of 12.85.
Children from the Father's House entertained all who gathered for the Cinco de Mayo celebration. Mexican food, Spanish Christian singing, pinatas, and volleyball were also a part of the entertainment enjoyed by members of The Father's House as well as many guests.
In appreciation for services the fire department rendered by responding to a fire involving property insured by Germania Companies, Trudy Gage, Gage Insurance Agency, presented a check for $150.00 to Lee Ragsdale and Danny Shaw. Volunteer fire departments such as San Saba's have been a tremendous help in keeping fire losses to a minimum.
The Annual Cow Camp Cook-off sponsored by the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department was held this past weekend. Winning the San Saba Brisket Baron Award and Best Camp Awards was Jimmy and Cathy Edmondson. Holly Ragsdale handed out the trophy at the cook-off.
Richland Springs High School senior Justin Reyes who has jumped 6'8" in the high jump this year signed a letter of intent of April 19 to participate in Track at Stephen F. Austin University for 2004-2005 season. Justin plans to attend SFA in the fall and major in Physics Engineering while furthering his track career. Justin is the son of Alex and Leticia Reyes.
