The ladies of the Presbyterian Church will give a Tea for the benefit of the Church Orphanage at the residence of Miss Alice Lewis, on Feb. 14 from 3 to 6. We will appreciate the patronage of our friends and acquaintances.

T. C. Henry has returned from market and says he has brought a select stock of dry goods for the Dry Weather Store.

Miss Nora Walker is attending the wholesale millinery markets in Dallas this week.

Willie Moore has taken charge of Wilmore ranch. He says his partner will join him later.

N. S. Forehand has located in San Saba and has embarked in the garage business.

Mr. Richard Sellman of Mountain Vale ranch was in town on business Wednesday.

Hon. E. L. Rector is on a trip in the northern and western part of the district looking after his interest in the state senatorial race, which will be settled Feb. 20th.

Bob and Bill Ellis were in Fort Worth this week on business. Bill went along to get some of the oil infection that is so violent in the Panther City, for he is threatening to get in the oil game and he wanted to know how a real oil magnate behaved in company.

Just as well commence building that three story modern hotel building on the southwest corner of the square. Some of these fine mornings there is going to be an oil gusher blow in on us and then what are you going to do with the crowds that will throng our little city?

The Star honestly believes that we are going to have some real development in this county, the moss-backs and tight-wads to the contrary notwithstanding. Let 'er come.

Armadillos Joe Miller and Dick Little were among the nominees selected Saturday as candidates for next summer's High School Coaches Association's all-star game.

A total of two babies born to 3M Company families at Brownwood on New Year's Day will receive shares of the firm's stock. The new arrivals are Danny Ray Baker, fourth child of Mr. and Mrs. Othel C. Baker of Brownwood and Cristy Leean, first child of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Parisher of Cherokee.

Mrs. D. C. Blauvelt of Arlington was celebrating her 83rd birthday Feb. 11 by visiting friends and relatives in San Saba, her former hometown. She is visiting her daughter, Mrs. B. C. Thompson, who accompanied her here for the day.

Mrs. J. C. Till and her uncle, Elmer Robinson, were in San Saba Saturday to consult a doctor.

Mrs. O. B. McGary and Mrs. H. M. Duncan and Rhonda made a business to Brownwood Monday.

Farmers in this community are plowing their fields now, getting ready for spring planting.

Our rainfall this past week was about one half inch.

Mr. and Mrs. Densil Shannon are planning to open a cafe here in the near future.
