"There still seems to be some misunderstanding about the legal speed limit for pick-up trucks and small trailer combinations," Captain Browning said today. E.K. Browning, Jr., Captain of the Texas Highway Patrol in Austin, pointed out that effective Aug. 23, all trucks including pick-up trucks, panel trucks and trailers, including boat trailers, have a maximum daytime speed of 60 mph and a maximum night speed limit of 55 mph. "We are receiving many complaints from drivers of pick-ups and drivers pulling boat trailers who have been arrested for driving 70 mph, because they mistaking thought that these vehicles had the same maximum speed limit as a passenger car," Captain Browning said.
