COVID-19 Updates and Medical Recommendations from Health Authority

As the number of COVID cases continues to fall across Texas, in the USA, and indeed the whole world, we all want to “return to normal” – whatever that may be. In reality we will likely need to adapt to a “new normal” that includes an increased degree of vigilance in relation to contagious diseases than we were used to “pre-COVID.” Hopefully we will be less complacent about being exposed or exposing others to potential infection, such as going into public places when we are running a fever, coughing or having other symptoms of possible contagious infection. Wearing of masks in crowded public places will continue to be a good idea, and perhaps will remain mandatory in some places. It is especially likely to be required where people from divergent geographic locations converge, like transportation such as planes, buses, subways, etc. We all need to continue to be aware and be kind – stay home if you have a fever, a cough, or other symptoms of an infection. Stay current on your vaccinations for influenza, pneumonia, and shingles. Keep a mask in your car, in your purse, in your pocket – use it if you find yourself needing to protect yourself or others when symptoms crop up and you cannot escape exposure.
