Message from Dr. Craig Whiting:

City and County personnel as well as Joe Debons, pharmacist at Everett’s Pharmacy, have been working to bring COVID vaccine to San Saba County, and there is potential that we could have vaccine available here within the next few weeks. The State of Texas is still limiting vaccine administration to categories 1A and 1B (first responders, hospital workers, those over 65 and those with certain medical conditions that put them at high risk). As a reminder, a person who has fully recovered from an infection with the COVID virus and is in one of the eligible categories should also be vaccinated as the protection from having the infection likely only lasts a few months.

If a person is fully recovered from COVID or after they have received the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, then for a period of 90 days they do not have to quarantine after contact with an infected person unless they have symptoms, in which case they should isolate.

During those 90 days, they do not need to quarantine again if exposed to someone else who has an active infection but should exercise the usual precautions when in public (social distance, mask, hand washing) as they could potentially carry virus on their hands or clothes from exposure to the infected person.

BSW is looking for workers and volunteers to help with the vaccination process at the hub in Marble Falls. Here’s the information on how to sign up:

1. Refer a friend. Please pass on this link on to others and encourage them to work at BSWH to support this effort. We have about 30 jobs to fill. Below is the link to the vaccine job web site. We can promise the days will go fast and they will be taking care of joy-filled community members.

2. Recruit a volunteer. Some people don’t want a job but will give their time. We need a number of volunteers to help with the effort. The benefit to both volunteers and employed staff is they qualify for a vaccine for themselves. The link is below for our sign-up site.

Reminder from Marsha Hardy:

Keep trying to protect yourself and those around you!

Simply: wash your hands, wear your mask, pay attention to your surroundings and, mostly, be kind!
