Message from Dr. Craig Whiting when asked to compare COVID to Influenza:

Comparing COVID to Influenza is likely helpful for people – we feel like we “know flu”: how it behaves and what it does. But COVID is still nebulous to most of us.

The 2017-2018 flu season was a hard one in Texas with about 11,000 deaths that year, mostly among unvaccinated people. So far, the death toll for COVID in Texas exceeds 27,000 and, of course, we don’t yet have a vaccine. The measures that we are taking to reduce the spread of COVID (hand washing, avoiding touching of our face, wearing a mask, physical distancing, etc.) hopefully will reduce our risk of influenza in San Saba as well as COVID. Getting the influenza vaccine is still a good idea as influenza is still a very real threat.

Reminder from Marsha Hardy:

Keep trying to protect yourself and those around you!

Simply: wash your hands, wear your mask, pay attention to your surroundings and, mostly, be kind!
