Message from Dr. Craig Whiting:

We don’t have a definite date to receive vaccine at any facility in San Saba at this time. It is likely that we will have some doses of the COVID vaccine available as soon as next month. These first doses will be designated for people who are in the high risk category (Tier 1b) which would include people 65 years-old and older and those over 16 years-old with medical conditions that put them at high risk of having complications with COVID. This high risk group would include people with diabetes type 2, cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic lung disease (emphysema, chronic bronchitis), heart disorders (congestive failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy), organ transplant recipients, and sickle cell disease. Everett’s Pharmacy should be receiving a supply next month, and anyone who fits this high risk category who wants to receive the vaccine can call the pharmacy to have themselves registered to be called when the vaccine is available there. There is a website that people can go to in order to register with Baylor Scott and White Health

It is good to remember that the vaccine requires a booster approximately 28 days after the first dose in order to provide maximum protection from the virus.

There is a new strain of the virus which first was recognized in Great Britain and has now been found in the United States. Every indication right now is that the COVID vaccine protects against this new strain as well.

Please remember the basics of protecting our community from the spread of this infection: face, space, separate (i.e. wear a mask, maintain social distance and isolate yourself if sick).

Reminder from Marsha Hardy:

Keep trying to protect yourself and those around you!

Simply: wash your hands, wear your mask, pay attention to your surroundings and, mostly, be kind!
