Catching up with the Commissioners

Last week, we reported the Burn Ban was reinstated during this meeting. Here are the other items that were discussed and/or approved during the meeting.

There was discussion on Proposed Tax Rate and Proposed Budget F/Y 2024 2025. See Public Notices on page 12.

Action items approved in the meeting: 

• Setting salaries and other allowances of all elected county and precinct officers F/Y 2023 2024 Budget. This item has already been posted in the newspaper with no grievances voiced.

• To apply for and accept funds for SB22. According to the Texas Comptroller's Office: Senate Bill (SB) 22 establishes a grant program that provides financial assistance to sheriff's departments, constable's offices and district and county attorney's offices in eligible counties to ensure professional law enforcement and legal representation of the people's interests throughout the state.

• Approval for a Vote in November General Election on Creating an Elected Position of Tax Accessor/Collector separate from the Office of Sheriff. (Commissioner Lebow abstained on this vote)

• Election Judges for San Saba County for 2-year term: Mabel Ann Blaylock (Pct. 1 and town boxes), Cindy Sloan (Pct. 2 Richland Springs), Keith Davis (Pct. 3), and Mimi Bode (Pct. 4) Mr. Carlson was present and addressed the Court on this item. He explained how being an election judge works and the amount and type of training for the Election Judges.

• Three Line-Item Transfers as well as Accounts Payable.

The Court also met on August 12th, and those items will be covered in the paper at a later date.

Upcoming Dates:

The next Commissioners Court meeting will be September 3, 2024, at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom on the Second floor of the Courthouse.
