Catching up with the Commissioners

Your San Saba’s Commissioner’s Court met February 14th. They typically meet twice a month, and the meetings are open to the public.

Emergency Management Coordinator Marsha Hardy reminded everyone of the Town Hall Meeting on March 4th at the Civic Center. Information on the Total Solar Eclipse, what to expect, and what to do will be presented.

The following items were approved by the Court:

• Revised the Plat for Deep Creek at Pontotoc Subdivision

• Increase fees of Court Appointed for Misdemeanor Guilty Plea from $200 to $325

• Resolution for SB22 Law Enforcement Grant in case one is needed to apply

• Acceptance of Donation from 2012 MGM, LP for $650 for Road Material, Precinct 4 to repair the road

• Expenditure Statement for Tobacco Settlement Distribution Program (This is a yearly item.)

• Racial Profiling Report from Sheriff’s Office

• Funding for restoration of the Wedding Oak Tree by an Arborist

• Accounts Payable (There were no Line-Item Transfers presented.)

The following Departmental reports were approved:

• County/District Clerk

• Treasurer’s Office -Justice of the Peace -Total: $15,518.31 -Community Service/Jail Credit: $2,100.78 - Total to the County: $8,872.53 -Small Claims and Civil: $162.00

• Sheriff’s Report - Jail total: 590 days with an average of 19.03 Burn Ban status remains unchanged. Current status: Lifted as of October 26, 2023.

Before Adjourning, the Court went into closed session to discuss and take possible action on: “County Judge’s Request for Waiver Conflict of Interest for Adoption Under Closed Session.”

The next Commissioners Court meeting will be held February 26th at 9 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Courtroom on the second floor of the Courthouse.
