Has anyone noticed that the Mesquite trees have had very few blooms this year? What do you suppose it will mean for our winter? Could it be possible that our winter be warmer this year! Bonnie Millican reported that their yard is covered in acorns from their oak trees, so that is in direct conflict with what the lowly mesquite predict.

Guess everyone will find out come winter time.

A correction for last weeks news: it is not legal to dump wild hogs that have been killed in the river, and legal, as was printed in last weeks news. But then, I suppose most people already knew that. The spell check on the computer can get you into a world of trouble as I find out everyday!

The traffic has been heavy with people getting out and going to the State Park and the fishing camps. Everyone is trying to get away from the virus. The fishing report from the Bend Store was that some catfish are being caught, one at 16 pounds and one 24 pounds. These were caught at the Sulphur Springs fishing camp and at the Bend State Park. The catfish are biting if you have the right bait, and of course, the right spot on the river. There is plenty of water in the river, but it is still muddy.

You do know that Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and some folks are trying to think of what would be a nice gift. The internet always has some interesting things, especially concerning Mother’s Day. There are 10 things about the Rainbow and Mother’s Day which was interesting. 1. Red for Mothers who give the best hugs. 2. Orange is for strong moms. 3. Yellow for joyful moms. 4. Green for moms who are queen of the outdoors. 5. Blue for the wise mom. 6. Indigo for crafty moms. 7. Violet for creative moms. 8. Pink for glamour’s moms. 9. Plus! A beautiful rainbow to bring mom some joy! 10. One more! A rainbow of flowers for Mother’s Day. You can surely think of something that would make her day.

Condolences go out to the family of Doris Henniger Griffen Poe on the loss of her son Doug “Moose” Griffin who passed away at his home April 22, after a long illness. He was 59 years old. Family members he left behind were his wife Bonnie; his two children, Zack and Janie; and three siblings, Clifford, Danny and Kae. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury, Charlene and Jerry Reavis; as of Monday, May 4, it was reported that he was admitted into Scott and White hospital last week very ill and is in ICU. Others who are in need of prayer are Pete Henniger who is fighting cancer, Earl Ray Sutton who has various medical problems he is battling, and of course, their families. Keep Jane Clark and her family on your prayer list as she is still battling health problems.

Charlene Brister underwent foot surgery and is need of prayer for a speedy recovery.
