Are relationships really important?

As time goes by I think one of the most important things in life is relationships or friends. As one man was describing his two sons he said, “One will make a million dollars and only have one friend, and the other will make a million friends and only have one dollar.” It’s where we put our priorities. What do we do when a relationship or friendship is broken?

I am reminded of something in the Bible. Relationships are very, very important in God’s eyes whether it be friends, marriage, children, work, and especially to Him, (Ephesians 5:25 & 6:4, Colossians 3:21 & 22 & 4:1, 1 Peter 3:7). Our relationship to God is broken when we have disobeyed Him and let sin dominate our lives, (Isaiah 65:10-12). If our relationship to God is broken there is a way it can be restored. To restore that relationship we must humble ourselves and draw near to Him or make the first step, (Jeremiah 29:13). God is there, and He has not changed or moved. We have changed or moved away, so we must return, (Malachi 3:7). God will accept us back if we confess our sins and ask forgiveness and live in the way he wants, (Hosea 5:15, 1 John 1:9).

It's good news that God will accept us back, and our relationship can be restored. But we have a choice. We can continue in our sin and our relationship with God suffers greatly. See you in Church next Sunday.
