Why is San Saba such a prime location?

Many of you have seen a Path of the Eclipse, and some of them have a line right down the center. A common misconception is that only that center line will have a Total Solar Eclipse. But that is not the case. The entire marked path will have a Total Solar Eclipse. Ms. Davies, Guest Speaker from Hill County Alliance, stated at the March 4th Town Hall Meeting that even if you are just barely outside that line, 99% of totality if NOT totality. That is why so many people will try as hard as they can to get INSIDE that line - and you know what is INSIDE that line? San Saba County!

San Saba is a beautiful place to visit. The grass will be green, and the spring flowers will be in bloom. Since the Eclipse is on a Monday, many people will choose to take a long weekend and come early just to visit beautiful San Saba!

Ms. Davies explained there are different stages (or contacts) of the eclipse. Here is some information she shared at the Town Hall Meeting:

Points of Contact - difference stages of the Eclipse First Contact - this is the start of eclipse

• The first partial phase begins; moon starts covering the Sun

Second Contact - this is the beginning of totality

• The first partial phase ends; moon fully covers the Sun
