Central Texas and Colorado River Railway Resumes Operations

The Central Texas & Colorado River Railway (CTXR) line is now active. Because this line has not been in use for several years, it can be easy for residents to forget that trains will once again be operating in the area. As service resumes, it is important to help raise awareness that these tracks are active and that trains should be expected at any time.

Key safety reminders include:

• Always expect a train. Freight trains do not travel at fixed times.

• Trains can move on any track, in either direction, at any time.

• Never walk on tracks; it’s illegal and dangerous.

• Today’s trains are quieter than ever and move faster than you think.

• Trains cannot stop quickly.

• Trains always have the right of way.

• Only cross train tracks at designated pedestrian or roadway crossings.

• Stay alert around railroad tracks.
