San Saba Powerlifting hosts second meet

The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity powerlifting teams hosted their second meet of the season on February 17 as the Lady Dillos and Dillos had a solid outing. It was a small meet with lifters from San Saba, Lampasas High School, Burnet High School, Lometa High School, Bangs High School, and Santa Anna High School competing against each other.

The girls had four fantastic student-athletes earn first-place medals in their respective divisions on Thursday evening as the Lady Dillos placed second as a team behind Lampasas.

In the 220-pound division, Austyn Graham was again a winner for San Saba as the meet’s top female competitor as she lifted 975 total pounds with 405 on the squat, 245 on the bench press, and 325 on the deadlift. Carolina Cervantes was victorious in the 198-pound division as she lifted 805 pounds with 350 on the squat, 155 on the bench press, and 300 on the deadlift.

In the 114-pound division, Leslie Aguirre placed first when she lifted 635 pounds with 245 on the squat, 115 on the bench press, and 275 on the deadlift. Makinzey Saldivar also looked superb for the Lady Dillos by winning the 97-pound division by lifting 560 pounds with 225 on the squat, 135 on the bench press, and 200 on the deadlift. Dillos

The boys also placed second as a team behind Lampasas and had five lifters win first-place medals for San Saba.

The Dillos also had the meet’s most outstanding lifter as Christian Ramirez won the 308-pound division with a whopping 1,505 total pounds lifted: a sensational 670 on the squat, 335 on the bench press, and 500 on the deadlift. In the superheavyweight division, Juan Lopez placed first and lifted 1,140 pounds with 475 on the squat, 290 on the bench press, and 375 on the deadlift.

Everett Eidson placed first in the 148-pound division by lifting 1,000 total pounds on the dot: 395 on the squat, 245 on the bench press, and 360 on the deadlift.

Also doing great in first place in the 132-pound division for the Dillos was Winton Lackey lifting 840 pounds with 340 on the squat, 200 on the bench press, and 300 on the deadlift. Acey Mask was a winner in the 114-pound division as he lifted 565 pounds with 195 on the squat, 125 on the bench press, and 245 on the deadlift.

Both the Lady Dillos and Dillos powerlifting teams will have some time off before their opening postseason meets. The girls will have their regional meet on March 3 at Dublin High School, while the boys will travel to West High School on March 10 to have their regional meet.
