San Saba Cross Country hosts annual meet

The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams competed on Monday, September 20, in the fifth meet of the 2021 season at the T.H. Glory Days Invitational held at San Saba River Golf Course.

For the Lady Armadillos in the girls’ two-mile run, senior Nojemi Martinez placed sixth in a field of 51 runners with a great time of 13:27.60. Lady Dillos freshman runner Destiny Davila came in 12th with a solid time of 13:52.90, while junior Olivia Lusty placed in 23rd with a mark of 15:00.90 last week.

San Saba sophomore Jenna Lambert placed 26th with a time of 15:07.50, while freshman teammate Selenda Robles came in 42nd with a mark of 17:45.40.

As for the Dillos, the boys’ team entered eight runners at the varsity level and had some great efforts for the fifth meet of the 2021 season. In the three-mile run, San Saba junior Noah Martinez had an excellent third-place finish with a time of 18:43.40, while junior Everett Eidson placed 10th out of 44 runners with a mark of 19:51.20.

Fabian Salinas placed 16th with a mark of 20:35.80, while sophomore Dillos teammate Justin Hernandez was right behind Salinas in 17th place with a mark of 20:54.70.

Up next on their meet schedule, San Saba will take part in a meet at Dublin Dash Invitational beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, hosted by Dublin High School.
