The De Leon Bearcats (6-1, 2-0 in district) overwhelmed the San Saba Armadillos (2-5,1-1 in district) last Friday evening at the Graveyard 42-20. The injury bug is still lingering over the heads of the Armadillos who had several key players out of the game. The district loss is not the end of the season for the team; a win over the next two weeks against Bangs and archrival Goldthwaite should potentially give the Dillos the 4th seat in district 25-2A and secure a playoff spot for the fifth time in sixth years.

Offensive Leaders

There is no doubt who the go-to player is on offense for the Dillos. RB Ethan Gonzales continues to be the work horse for the Dillos as he carried the ball 28 times for 136 yards (4.8 avg) and three rushing scores, and caught two passes for 16 yards. Lackey filled in at the quarterback position this week for the injured Miller and completed 11 of 17 passing (64%) and rushed for 21 yards on three carries. Trace Templeton had a solid game at tight end catching five passes and ran the ball two times for 12 yards.

Defensive Leaders

Logan McHam led the team from the defensive end spot Friday night. McHam recorded 10 tackles, one of those coming for a loss, followed by Alex Estrada with eight tackles. Cash Bryant, Christian Reyes and Alex Aguirre all contributed to the efforts with six tackles while Lackey who played sparingly on defense recorded six tackles and a sack.
