The San Saba Middle School Tennis Team hosted an invitational tennis tournament in San Saba on Saturday, April 29. We had 10 teams playing in the tournament and a total of 255 players at the tournament. By far, it was the largest tournament we have played in this year. Teams in the tournament were: San Saba, Mason, Llano, Junction, Blanco, Fredericksburg, Brownwood, Lometa, and Zephyr.
Playing for San Saba were 7th graders: Adrian Correa, Tucker Johnson, Alefandro Martinez, Dylan Hanna, Kadence Isham, Josselin Rojas, and Ally Sweitzer; 8th graders were: Kevin Aguilera, Angel Reyes, Rodolfo Valdez, Marlane Rodriguez, Perla Gil, Jaritzel Rojas, Aubrie Vasquez, Mia Davila, Mariana Macedo, Ximena Cuevas, Karen Correa, Chancey McCoury, Holly English, Brenda Aguirre, Adriana Macedo, Ana Rangel, Ari Martinez, and Adrian Bumgardner.
In 7th Grade Girls Singles, Kadence Isham won a thriller defeating a Mason girl in a tiebreaker 7-6 to win First Place. Josselin Rojas also won a thriller defeating a Mason Girls in a tiebreaker 7-6 to win Third Place. Tucker Johnson won fourth place in 7th Grade Boys Singles.
In the 8th Grade Girls Singles, Marlane Rodriquez won Second Place, and teammate Perla Gil won Third Place in Girls Singles. In 8th Grade Girls Doubles, Mia Davila and Mariana Macedo won Fourth Place. In 8th Grade Mixed Doubles,Adriana Macedo and Kevin Aguilera won Fourth Place.
Also playing in the tournament from San Saba playing as an unattached player, Giovanni Fauley won Third Place in 8th Grade Boys Singles.
This was the toughest tournament our Middle School played in this year. All our kids competed very well. On May 10, will be the 29-AA Middle School District Tournament in Mason. We hope as many people that can come and support our middle school team.
