San Saba suffered their 3rd consecutive loss on the season as they fell on homecoming night to the Eldorado Eagles 20-14. San Saba will open up district play next Friday at Rogan Field against a strong Hamilton team that is 3-1; kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Offensive Leaders –

The senior duo of Lane Miller and Ethan Gonzales was on display for the homecoming crowd. Gonzales ran the ball 30 times for 167 yards (5.5 avg.) and one score and added six receptions for 42 yards. Through four games, Gonzales has 608 yards rushing on 95 carries (6.4 avg) and seven rushing scores. Miller carried the ball 15 times for 67 yards (4.4 avg.) and was 12-20 (60%) with 70 yards passing and two interceptions. Sophomore Cash Bryant added to the offensive stats with two catches for nine yards and Glover hauled in three catches for 19 yards.

Defensive Leaders –

Winton Lackey led the team in tackles this week with 12, one of those coming for a loss on the play. Glover had another big stat night as he had 12 tackles, one for a loss, an interception, and a forced fumble. Alex Estrada and Juan Patino both had solid nights with five and six tackles. There are no stats kept on pass breakups for the Dillos, but Skylar Romero had a great night from the corner position and had several defensive saves.

3:45 – The lone score of the quarter comes way of a 44-yard pass from the Eagles offense. PAT is good. 14-14.

Halftime score: San Saba 14 - Eldorado 14

3rd Quarter

If you are a fan of “old school” football, then this was your quarter! The Dillos and Eagles combined for three punts, two fumbles, and two turnovers on downs. Some might view it as defensive dominance; most viewed it as offensive struggles. Either way, no team was able to take advantage of the other teams’ mishaps.

After the end of three quarters of play: San Saba 14 – Eldorado 14

4th Quarter

10:43 – What looked like another defensive halt for the Dillos ended up being the game winning score when Eldorado’s quarterback hit his receiver in the corner of the end zone from 14 yards out on fourth down. PAT is no good. 20-14 Eldorado.

Final Score: San Saba 14 – Eldorado 20
