Greetings, my San Saba loves, and how are you? I have to admit this week I feel as though I made a trip to Hawaii to surf the famous Pipeline but forgot to use a surfboard… Wow, what a tumultuous time we have spent in our house! Mom has not been well at all, and then with all the election turmoil, I am surprised I have any hair left on my tail at all! I shan’t speak of my political views, but I will say I want our country to heal, for all the hate to end, the anger to stop and for the healing to begin. I believe with all my heart America has answered the question asked without any doubt.

This week we celebrate Veteran’s Day, and my dad was in the Navy but never fought in a war or anything. Mom’s dad was a Merchant Marine, and their ships were commissioned in World War II. And one was even hit by a torpedo. Sadly he died coming home from Vietnam. I would like to thank all our service men past and present. And you know what, I would like to thank all those who are of service.

We had the nicest surprise this past week! Our next door neighbors, Wesley and Lori, got a new puppy - and hopefully my future best friend! He is a little black and white terrier/Australian Sheppard mix. I have not met him yet, but dad said he is the cutest thing! We take such joy in the happiness of others! We felt so sad when their dachshund died and then their beautiful blue heeler. Life is just not the same without a dog, even if I do say so myself.

Speaking of dogs and happiness, I really wish humans would act a bit more like dogs. I have heard people say in movies when referring to a male friend…“He is such a dog,” however, I have not seen any unconditional attitude in that person exhibited, so I have no idea why his friends say that about him. Dogs never anticipate the worst, worry bad things will happen to them; nope, they just go about their day thinking life is wonderful until they must deal with a clear and present problem. Furthermore, as soon as the problem is dealt with…they go right back to being super happy about life. Think about it…when you leave, they may be upset. But when you come home, they are so happy to see you. It is like every holiday all wrapped into one! Yep, I sincerely think we know how to live an amazing and truly happy life. I sure know I am one happy Herman!

Mom and I watched the movie, Judy, about the life of Judy Garland with Rene Zellweger, and while it was a great movie, it was also very sad. I told mom…all she wanted was for someone to love her, care about her, to acknowledge she was there. I want you to know, my San Saba sweethearts, my heart does all those things when it comes to you. No, we are not all cut from the same cloth, nor do we see the world from the same eyes, but our hearts feel love as deeply, feel hurt and loss in the same way. I hope you have a wonderful week until next we speak. Thank you for everything, and thank you for being!
