In the last week's of 1835, 190 years ago, The Goliad Declaration of Independence was penned. A handwritten document signed on December 20, 1835, by 89 American-born settlers and two Tejano federalists, declaring Texas to be a “free, sovereign, and independent State” from Mexico.

How about that, the last day of the year for the last column of the year. It’s been a whirlwind year. The front coming in from the north as I‘m typing reminds me of this past year. I love my Texas weather. Today we had short sleeves and tomorrow we’ll be back in long sleeves.
