For the second time, The San Saba News & Star continued the Halloween Coloring Contest for the second time in the October 21st edition. This time, there was a greater response from community children to this contest.

There were three age categories to be judged. Ten children answered the call for artistic flair to color a picture with multiple Halloween-related objects, animals, and a scarecrow. This year’s response to the coloring contest was much greater since only three entered in the newspaper’s first Halloween event.

An impartial judge was selected from the community to choose the winners. Here are the judging results:

3-5 Years Division –

1st Place: Luke Naizer - $20.00 and $10.00 Sonic card

2nd Place: Abigail Rivera - $10.00 and $10.00 Sonic card

3rd Place: Asher Smith - $10.00 Sonic Card

Participation Awards: Easton Naizer and Abigail Fuller - Free DQ cones

6-8 Years Division –

1st Place: Hadley Fuller - $20.00 and $10.00 Sonic card

2nd Place: Allison Rivera - $10.00 and $10.00 Sonic card

3rd Place: Ava Spence - $10.00 Sonic card

Participation Award: Camryn Jacobs - Free DQ cone

9-12 Years Division –

1st Place: Kael Cisneroz - $20.00 and $10.00 Sonic card

All of the contestants were full of energy and excited to receive their prizes and get a group picture taken for the paper and their parents. San Saba News & Star staff were excited too from absorbing the positive, but somewhat nervous energy and laughter exuding from the children. The News staff decided to keep offering the Halloween Coloring Contest each year due to the great response and because the children and the staff all had a fantastic time!

Watch for it next year, kids and parents!
