That Thing You Did

If you are a believer in Christ, think of the most disturbing and horrible thing you ever did, said or thought. That thing that comes back in your memories to haunt you once in a while. The thing you would give anything for the ability to go back in time and change.

Christ died for THAT. He was perfect and sinless, righteous and holy, but He acted as if He had committed that sin by paying the price for it.

The One who was a perfect standard of goodness sullied Himself with the most disgusting thing you ever did so that you could be forgiven of it and be reconciled to God. He took the punishment we deserved so we could have His righteousness.

That is mind boggling and humbling. If you haven't trusted in Jesus and the sacrifice that He made through his death, what are you trusting in?

A friend of mine once said that if with our broken moral compasses we still know that we are sinful thru our own consciences, imagine how your sin must look in comparison to a perfect God. We aren't good enough to earn His favor. We can't just waltz into the King's presence in our filthy rags to demand an eternal reward.

Psalms 18:30 says 'This God - His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.'

God is perfect; we are shockingly imperfect. Take refuge in the One who is perfect.
