Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

The Take Care of Texas Kids Art Contest is a fun way for K-5th students to learn about protecting the environment and come up with creative ways to share this knowledge with others! Students submit their artwork of how they, along with their friends and family, help conserve water and keep it clean. The students that submit the best art can win a tablet or laptop computer. Prizes are made possible through a donation from the Texas Chemical Council.

Key Dates

Contest Opens January 4, 2023 Contest Closes February 24, 2023 Entries must be postmarked or submitted electronically on or before February 24, 2023 11:59 p.m.

Winners will be announced April 5th, 2023.

All entries must include the slogan “Take Care of Texas. It’s the only one we’ve got.” and portray the positive ways Texans can help conserve water and keep it clean.

Contest Prizes Information All entrants will compete for the title of grand prize winner and runner up within their respective category. Each category will have a Grand Prize winner and a Runner Up winner, for a total of six winners.

Categories are K through 1st grade, 2nd through 3rd, and 4th through 5th.

Grand Prize winners will receive a laptop. Runner-up winners will receive an iPad.

The teacher who sends in the most entries will also win an iPad or gift card of equal value.

Prizes are made possible through a donation from contest sponsor: Texas Chemical Council.

From the six statewide winning entries, the grand prize winners for each category will be selected by the TCEQ commissioners and executive office, and representatives from contest partner Texas Chemical Council.
