The San Saba Middle School students had a great showing today at the ATSSB Region 29 All-Region Band tryouts. We took 4 students to audition for the region band and ALL 4 students made the top band. Students have to learn 8 scales, a lyrical etude and a technical etude for the audition. The students then enter a room and play their scales and both etudes to a panel of judges who then rank them in chair order. The following students earned a spot in the top band of the region: Jay Garcia, 2nd chair, Alto Saxophone Mayce McDowell, 5th chair, Clarinet Carla Jimenez, 6th chair, Clarinet and Wyatt Ward, 2nd chair, Oboe The students will perform a concert in January with the other students from around the region. Please congratulate these fine musicians when you see them.
