On the local front, Early Voting is underway for the 14 Constitutional Amendments, and I encourage all registered voters, whether For or Against, to get out and make your vote count!
Recently, County Chairman Jeff Carlson attended a two-day workshop in Austin hosted on Day One by the Secretary of State Elections Division and Day Two by the Republican Party of Texas. The workshop focused on a wide range of topics involving Elections, particularly the Primary in March, as well as new laws, rules and regulations on Candidate filing, Polling locations, Conventions and Election Financing.
We all know that the September Impeachment Trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton resulted in a resounding Acquittal of all charges. Many individuals believe this occurred because of a poor performance by the House Impeachment Team and raised speculation amongst some political pundits that the Impeachment Managers would face new, conservative adversaries in the upcoming Primary. This prediction has become reality here in San Saba County, and House District 68 as incumbent David Spiller, one of 12 Impeachment Managers, will, at a minimum, have at least one opponent in our Republican Primary. Mrs. Kerri Kingsbery, a prominant and highly successful businesswoman from Cooke County, has announced that she will run for State Representative of District 68. She recently told me that she is very much looking forward to meeting our San Saba voters and explaining why she believes she is the best choice in the upcoming race. As the November 11th start of the Primary Filing Period approaches, I will be available on that Saturday, Veterans Day, for all Republican candidates who wish to submit their applications and filing fees for our local races. I will be joined by your Precinct Chairs who will help in reviewing applications, correcting any errors or omissions, and answering questions about the election.
Additionally, I encourage all Republicans wishing to vote in the March Primary to make sure you are registered and your voter registration is up to date and correct for your current address. It makes it so much easier to have your vote count if everything is up to date beforehand!
