Something that Stinks to High Heaven

Several times over the years, we had a foul odor in our kitchen. We started looking in the cabinets, under the dishwasher or under the refrigerator. Often I have wanted to put a clothespin on my nose before we found the problem. You would think a small dead mouse would not smell so bad. Holding my breath and periodically going to the window for fresh air, I was able to remove the mouse. After several doses of air freshener, I was able to stay in the kitchen.

Dealing with that mouse reminds me of a major problem we all face in life. Sin! Sin is anything that does not please God or goes against His Word, the Bible. Lying, cheating, unkindness, not loving God, or losing our temper are just a few (especially the 10 commandments), but rejection of Jesus Christ is the biggest, (John 8:23&24).

God knows our every sin (Psalms 69:5). Sin is a lot more offensive to God than that stinking little mouse was to me. It defiles us like the stinking mouse that we wanted to get far away from it or get rid of it, (Matt 15:18-20). If we will acknowledge, confess, or ask forgiveness, we can be forgiven, (Psalms 32:5, 1John 1:8-10). Do not neglect it; if you do, it will lead to everlasting separation from God and eternity in Hell, (Revelation 20:11-15, 22:11-21. See you in Church next Sunday.
