San Saba XC Competes at Dublin

The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams competed on Wednesday, September 29, in the sixth meet of the 2021 season at the Dublin Dash hosted by Dublin High School.

For the Lady Armadillos in the girls’ varsity two-mile run, senior Nojemi Martinez placed 18th in a field of 70 runners with a solid time of 14:39.45 while sophomore Jenna Lambert finished a few spots behind her teammate in 23rd place with a mark of 14:50.73. Two runners for the Lady Dillos also ran in the junior varsity race: Valeria Macias at 17:06.65 in 19th and Selenda Robles at 17:39.23 in 23rd place.

As for the Dillos, the boys’ team entered seven runners at the varsity level and had some good efforts for the sixth meet of the 2021 season. In the 5,000-meter run, San Saba junior Noah Martinez had a solid 16th-place finish with a time of 19:37.82 while sophomore Julius Salinas placed 23rd out of 70 runners with a mark of 20:19.69.

Fabian Salinas placed 25th with a mark of 20:26.27 while sophomore Dillos teammate Justin Hernandez was a few spots back of Salinas in 31st place with a mark of 21:00.09.

Up next on their meet schedule, San Saba will take part in a meet at the Eagle Invitational on Wednesday, October 6, hosted by nearby Goldthwaite High School.
