San Saba Garden Club’s Garage Sale – A Huge Success!

The San Saba Garden Club (SSGC) members send their thanks to all who participated in the Biennial Garage Sale either as customers, volunteer workers, or donors of the many sale items. The club had lots of donations from club members and other community supporters. The Garage Sale, held at the Civic Center on Friday and Saturday of last week, April 16 and 17, saw large numbers of shoppers and volunteers.

The Civic Center auditorium was full of a variety of items from potted plants to all sizes of clothing for both men and women. Holiday decorations, linens, kitchen items and utensils, small electrical appliances, exercise equipment, and bicycles filled the large open area. Many of the items sold and those items which did not sell were then donated to Shared Ministeries.

SSGC uses the proceeds of the sale to further club projects which include: scholarships for SSHS seniors, plantings for Mill House Park, the Senior Center, and the elementary school garden, holiday decorating of the historic old Mill House wagon, helping with Kids Kamp in early summer, selection of the SS Yard of the Month, decorating the Blue Star Memorial Highway Monument in November in celebration of Veterans Day, and hosting a nursing home tea each spring usually around Valentine’s Day (this year will be later because of Covid).

Volunteer workers included: Co-Presidents Rhonda Killion and Mona McMahan, Nancy and Chuck Van Etten, Marjean Henderson Alexander, Debbie Shahan, Anne Homan Vincent, Rebecca Britton, Dianna Furlan, Karen Sloan, Georgia Harris, Sandy McCrary, Janice Bates, Jacqueline Carlson, Sherie Clarkson, Trish Fullerton, Terri Dickey, Sharon Hayes, and Leanne Pollock. Thank you again, San Saba, for all your generous support!
