San Saba Garden Club Fundraiser

The historic old mill building in Mill Pond Park, called the “Clubhouse” to members of the San Saba Garden Club (SSGC), was devastated inside in two local floods last July. Members are enthusiastically finding ways to raise funds to restore the interior of the lovely facility to its warmth, beauty, and efficiency for our club and our community! It has been used in the past for small gatherings of parties, reunions, meetings, and wedding rehearsal dinners in a lovely setting of the park.

San Saba Garden Club was graciously awarded a beautiful handmade quilt (72 inches square) shown above by HUGS (Helping U Grow Stronger), a volunteer-driven nonprofit. Founded by Connie and Rodney Kortz in Victoria, TX, HUGS brings warmth and hope to disaster survivors through the generosity of others. The giving organization wanted our club to have this quilt for a raffle drawing to raise funds for the restoration of our clubhouse. SSGC members will be selling raffle tickets for $10 each or 3 for $25. You can also find tickets available at the club’s booth on 2nd Saturday trade days on the courthouse square and at several local banks. The winner will be chosen in early December during the annual San Saba Sip ‘n Stroll.

San Saba Garden Club thanks those who gave this generous offering to bless others. “Each quilt is a gift of comfort, care, and community and is made by volunteers from across the country. These quilts are more than fabric and thread; they’re heartfelt hugs during a time of healing.”
