The Rotary Club of San Saba is excited to host "HIMS OF PRAISE," a male "A Cappellasinging group that is a ministry of the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas, Texas. Fellowship is a large part of Rotary and the first meeting of each month is designated as a fellowship time.
If you would enjoy a time of fellowship with people in our community who strive diligently to improve our community, nation, and world, please join us for lunch this Thursday, May 5th, at the Pecan House Grill.
Currently, the HIMS OF PRAISE group consists of six members and have been performing for 20 years. Jim Rutland, the group's director, and Bryon Alexander sing the lead or soprano part. Zane Lancaster sings the high alto. Trent Lancaster, along with Bill Yick, sing the tenor part, and Clark Corbin sings bass.
"A Cappella" (Italian for "in the manner of the chapel") music began in a religious setting, but the genre continues to grow and change as shows like "Glee" and movies like "Pitch Perfect" move the style into popular culture. Songs are arranged with soprano (lead), alto, tenor, and bass parts, and create four-part harmony by blending the parts.
HIMS OF PRAISE has performed at local festivals as well as church events in San Antonio, Temple, Abilene, Waco, and Goldthwaite, Texas, and are regular participants at the Lampasas Spring Ho Gospel Night. In addition, the group performs the Star-Spangled banner to honor our nation at local sporting events. HIMS OF PRAISE has recorded three CDs: "Lead Me," "God's Choir," and "Hosanna." These CDs will be available for purchase at $10 each at the meeting.
