Welcome to May, everyone. For this are, storms come and go, life gets busier at school, and graduation for our seniors closes out the month. This is a busy month. The Baptist Church had their last Wednesday Church for the kids because of they busy May events. There are several events planned for the summer, but regular meetings will resume once the kids get back to school.

Congratulations to Mrs. Starr and Mrs. Locker. They had 12 students advance to the regional academics level. We wish they had all advanced, but for the first time in many years, one student will compete in the state competition. Congratulations to Kinzlee Daly for her first-place award in computer applications. Jacob Sweeney is the state alternate. The remaining 11 students worked hard, and they are also to be congratulated for advancing to the regional competition. We are proud of our academic stars.

In the sports arena, Jaspur Ferris and Layne Ward will be advancing in tennis singles, and Eli Hutchins and Calyn Kubin will be advancing in tennis mixed doubles. The sports banquet will be the second week in May; Mrs. Sutherland is organizing this event.

Please don’t forget the Alum-ni Banquet on May 11th. This amazing event is always held the weekend of Mother’s Day. Kristy Perry has been working hard getting all the preparations completed.

Mrs. Poe wanted me to thank all the donors who volunteered to give blood at the annual blood drive. Twenty units of blood were collected.

There are two banquets for the graduating classes. Senior Banquet will be May ninth at the First Baptist Church, and the eighth-grade graduation banquet will be May tenth at the Baptist Church.

Students in elementary are completing their STAAR assessments this week, and secondary students will be taking the Math STAAR. This will complete the first round of testing. Tests that must be passed will be retaken after a summer school session.

Two of our hometown favorites are in rehab in San Saba. Kathy Brockman and Thurman Saxon are out of the hospital and on the road to better health. They will not attend the Alumni Banquet this year, but we hope they will have their smiles ready for next year. This is an amazing event, and I hope many of our alumni will fill the gym again this year.

School is almost out; please parents, make sure your students continue coming to school, especially my seniors. Even though we have completed the STAAR tests, the course materials are not finished. We have four weeks left in this grading period, and there are mandatory grades to be given to meet school board requirements.

Speaking of school board, please make sure to go and vote for two new school board members. Early voting is being held at the school. The last two days are Monday and Tuesday, the 29th and 30th. I hope and pray every parent with a child in school will turn out and vote. There are several excellent candidates. Election day is Saturday, May 4th, in the Administration office.

Please continue your prayers for our residents who are ill. Johnny Reeves had good news from the MD Anderson staff but still needs our prayers. Danny Phillips, Vicki Moreno, and several others need prayer. Please pray for our country, Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

Also, all the anti-Semitic protests raging on our campuses and city streets. We need peace and civility in our country. God, bless our precious troops and their families.
