News Update
Could someone please tell me what happened to April and May of this year? Feels like we skipped from early spring to summer in a blink!
But some good things have been going on the past few months since the last newsletter.
For one, the roof repairs are complete, just in time for the wonderful rains we’ve been getting! If you see Franky Soto Sr, thank him for overseeing this major project.
The next large item on the agenda will be replacing the rest of the windows; then the building will be totally weatherproofed. The three windows on the west side of the building were replaced earlier this year. However, the remaining windows need replacement, as well as new facing.
Donations
The Society has received many donations this year, which is paying for the repairs on the bank building. Here is a list of some of the donations we have received since March 2025:
* April Potluck Lunch $1699.
* May Potluck Lunch - $1305
* Check from First Christian Church - $750.00
* Grant from The Martin Charitable Fund, Mckinney TX - $1000.
* Bequeath from the Nila Brown Estate - $5000.00
We are extremely grateful to all our generous donors, whether the amount is $5000 or $5 at the potluck, we are grateful! And just a reminder, all donations are tax deductible as we are a 501c 3 Non-Profit organization.
Upcoming Dates
Next regular meeting will be June 17 at the Community Center, 6:30 pm. We need everyone to come as we will be making plans for our fundraising projects at the annual Stars and Stripes Celebration in Richland Springs on July 5th. This will be an opportunity to show off the work on the building that’s been done, as well as raise funds. We also need to schedule a work day to get ready for the Stars and Stripes visitors.
Next Potluck Fundraiser will be July 13th. Drop off your food before church at the Community Center, and join us for a meal after. Always a great time to visit with friends and neighbors.
