At the May City Council meeting, Mayor Ken Jordan read the signed Proclamation recognizing May 11th - 17th as National Police Week. He then presented it to representatives of the San Saba Police Department.

There were no Public Comments at the meeting.
Aldermen Shawn Oliver, Marcus Amthor, and Michael Nelson were installed as newly elected officials by Justice of the Peace Sharon Blossman. She also issued the Statement of Elected Officials and the Oath of Office to them. You can find photos of this installation on our website later this week.


Alderman Marcus Amthor was unanimously elected to serve as the next Mayor Pro-Tem.

City Manager's Report
City Manager Scott Edmonson gave updates on the following:
• Meeting about the landscaping at the Visitor's Center took place. Ideas will be presented to EDC because it is actually their property. This will be done in phases.
• Four of the police shields came in. They can be issued to an officer once they go through the training. Training is set up for June; everyone will be trained at once.
• At the time of this meeting, 21 applications for Chief of Police have been received, and they are being reviewed.
• Reminder of National Police Week ceremony the following day.
• A lot coming up - Rotary Banquet, Cow Camp Cookoff, 3-Man Golf Tournament.
• Splash Pad has a new feature and is open
• Hamrick Celebration event went really well; there were no problems. Everyone seemed to have a really good time.
• LCRA Steps Forward Program took a little longer than anticipated but went really well. There was an incredible amount of work to do.
• Omni Tracks are to be in the city limits tomorrow (May 14th) to start with clean up on the railroad tracks.
• He commended the officers for the way they honored Chief Newkirk. He also complimented the city workers for all they did to set up for the Catkins Ball.
• Lightening strikes hit two of the buildings at the City Yard. Created some havoc on the water systems and took out some computers. Getting estimates on getting things repaired.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for June 10, 2025, at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
