The Pierian Study Club met November 12, 2020, at the San Saba Hotel in San Saba. The Membership Committee, composed of Kathleen Hawkins, Chairman, Marjean Henderson, Lynn McHenry and Cydney Pearce were hostesses for the meeting.
Other attendees at the meeting were Loy Nell Behrens, Jacqueline Carlson, Marcia Dyer, Kathleen Hawkins, Karen Henson, Gale Ivy, Shelly Mahan, Lynn McHenry, Marjean Henderson, Cydney Pearce, Sherry Ruddick, Debbie Shahan, Patty Shaw, Marsha Smart, Kay Stowell, Patricia Warren, Martha Whitten, Cissy Williams, and new member, Mary Margaret Morehead. Associate Member Bebe Bagley also attended.
The program for today was presented by Rene’ McBee, owner of San Saba Olive Oil Company. The Olive Oil Company has been in business in San Saba for 10 years and has steadily increased in sales throughout the years.
Members were served a plate with three balsamic vinegars and two olive oils. Included were fruits, vegetables, cheese, bread and nuts. Ms. McBee explained how different types of oil and vinegars are plated with different fruits or vegetables.
The San Saba Olive Oil Company offers 22 of the highest quality certified extra virgin olive oils in the world and the finest balsamic vinegars from the region of Modena, Italy.
The store is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the website is available to shop at all times.
Committee reports were heard from Projects, Membership and Entertainment.
Members were invited to select an angel from the Angel Tree to provide a Christmas present to a child in the community. Please bring your gift, unwrapped, to the Christmas Party or it can be dropped off at Alamo Pecan Company.
The December 10 Christmas Guest Tea will be held at the San Saba Hotel. Members are encouraged to ask a guest to attend.
