Night at the Museum, March 2, 2024, is coming!

An exciting evening is planned from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd, so mark your calendars now for a San Saba favorite! Lee Murray will cook again, and Charly Kronberger, Jane Hilton, and Edward Flores will present on sheep dog trials, Texas cotton, and other fascinating local historical lore! Join us!!!

The monthly Museum Board meeting was held Thursday, January 4th, at the San Saba Museum, Lynn Blankenship presiding. Fourteen Board members and guests were present. The treasurer’s report was a very positive one with more than $16,000 added to museum expansion funds since the January report of last year!

An exciting acquisition to current museum artifacts was showcased for the group. Aileen Roberts, museum curator, demonstrated the old rope ladder and its accompanying pole used to loosen pecans from the tall trees in old pecan harvests. The items were donated by the CK Stevenson family in order to preserve the 1930’s era tools. These tools allowed pecans to be manually harvested from pecan trees in the Cherokee and Bend areas of San Saba County.
