Shirley Cunningham has brought her tapestry show to Llano at the Llano Art Gallery's Grand Opening, beginning April 9th at 6:00 p.m. She tells stories through imagery utilizing the form of tapestry.
Shirley invites the viewer to become a part of the story, as they stand and walk among the hanging tapestry mobiles. The story she tells, during the show at the gallery, is "A Story of Genesis 1 Told in Tapestry."
Shirley applies color using fabric, objects and various threads and yarn as her "paint." Her needles become the brushes as she creates her tapestry masterpieces.
Shirley and her husband, Bob, now make their home in Llano. She is a woman of many faces: wife, grandmother, greatgrandmother, designer and artist entrepreneur, teacher, lecturer and author of many manuals on sewing and fitting.
