Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, my beautiful and special San Saba loves. Mom and I sure hope you have been doing well. I was absent last week; yep, like a recalcitrant child, I skipped school, did not clean my room, and shirked all my responsibilities! I do so apologize, but I misunderstood the meaning of the Labor Day holiday, and took it to mean Dachshund’s Day Off!

I have a question? Why do women wear makeup? Did someone tell them their faces were blank pages they needed to write stories on? By the way, I rather love the look of your eyes when I stare into them, and the curl of your mouth when you smile; I need no drawn road map to get lost in the warmth of you. Humans quite fascinate me, their need to change themselves in order to fit into their own skin. As a dachshund, I don’t even check to make sure if my tail is attached properly before running into the kitchen for my breakfast! Mom told me she used to dye her hair! I screamed and ran out of the room! Mom found me under the covers shaking. I told her what she told me scared me because if she killed her hair that meant all that white stuff on her head was a ghost!! I have begun calling her Casper!

Well, the latest change in my environment has been mom moving me into an art gallery! Yep, mom has turned our walls into display cases for all means of colors, imagination, and inspiration. I have a rule just as when the woman is cleaning crazy… stay out of her way least I end up on the wall, unframed and unhappy!!

I had an argument with mom this week over eggs. No, we were not eating a plate of eggs; we were discussing them! Mom asked me if I would like her to make egg salad? I told her it sounded disgusting, and she knew I disliked lettuce. I became even more irritated because she laughed and said egg salad contained not a speck of lettuce! I walked out of the kitchen into the living room, turned my dachshund head and said… “mom, will you please prepare some demolish derby eggs for lunch! I will consume all the smashed to pieces wrecks!” Sometimes language is much more than semantics; this dachshund does not do salads!

Mom and I hope you have an amazing week until we speak again. We love you so very much and are so grateful for each one of you! Love, Lenny
