Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, beautiful San Saba loves, and please excuse my absence last week. Mom has been in that place; I call it ‘her place of organized destruction of construction.’ Don’t get me wrong, for a woman of considerable age, the woman is amazing, but sometimes she more resembles a whirling dervish!

We gave away our enormous couch, ordered a tiny sleeper sofa, and bought two chairs from Everett’s furniture. Well, change sets off the organization bomb in mom’s mind, and no one is safe in the house when that happens! I am quite surprised I didn’t end up on a shelf somewhere posed as a cute ornament! Now, on a positive note, our house looks amazing, there are lovely places for our friends to relax and talk, and we have certainly made this place our home.

Speaking of furniture delivery, the guys put the enormous boxes in our garbage can, and some city workers driving by were so kind; they stopped, took them out and put them in the back of their pickup so there would be actual room for garbage bags. That simple act of kindness touched mom’s heart so deeply. You see, where we lived before, the company would often not empty our garbage if they saw bugs fly around the can or in it as if we had any control over that! Mom paid $30 dollars a month for garbage pick up at the gated community, and they got upset because there were bugs on the Gulf Coast?? Mom has no control over me bugging her and the garbage guys thought she had control over outside bugs? Oh come on now! Yeah, those San Saba city employees stopping to care meant so much!

One amazing thing about mom being in a home improvement mood was her baking sugar cookies! Oh my dear goodness, I wish every single one of them were for me - but nope - friends came over to help construct a garage for us, and they were mom’s way of saying thanks. I think that is very nice of her, but I knew I wanted to eat them all the moment I smelled them baking in the oven. It is the same when she cooks my chicken. If you ever want to find me when food is on the stove, just knock on the door and come look for me in the kitchen. I will even offer to share my food with you!

Mom and I saw a little dog walking the road the other day. She told me it was a Pekinese. I became very concerned and asked if it had a skin condition? Mom looked confused, asked me why I would wonder such a thing? I gave her one of my ‘well duh, mom’ looks and replied…“mom, you said he picks his knees!”

I hope you have an absolutely wonderful week, dearest San Saba loves! We wish you the very best!
