Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, dearest San Saba loves, and I hope this past week has been good to you and for you. Personally, I got a little political about an issue very close to my dachshund heart…animal abuse. I had a lot to say about an incident I read in a post by San Saba County Friends of Animals and a dog named Samson. I am full of love, humor and happiness until someone shows me they are not worthy of any of that or my respect. Animals have huge hearts and are worth so very much. Hey, I am not spoiled rotten for no reason!

Mom told me she was going to get bird feeders, and if I would have known how to cross my eyes I would have. I told her about the pig-ons! The woman looked at me with the most confused look on her face and then she smiled and said… “Lenny, do you mean the pigeons? Yes, they will be invited to eat too.” Mom is so naive; those birds get their pig-out on when they eat! Hey, I don’t mind mom feeding other animals as long as they don’t come inside and eat my food. Mom is stingy enough since I met Dr. Keys this past week, and he gave mom an exact amount to feed me.

Yep, I met Dr. Keys, had to get my nails clipped; and the truth is I acted very much like a crying baby. I whined so much mom could have put me on a shelf, slapped a label on me, and sold me as a sour grape vintage! Someone in the waiting room would have thought they were using a chainsaw to manicure me! Mom hugged me close and told me they did not hand out Oscars in San Saba for best actor by a dachshund!

Mom had a birthday on Tuesday. I got her a blood pressure machine. It is good to see how far I can irritate her before she blows a gasket. Hmm, does that mean I actually bought a present for myself? I am kidding, of course; I never make mom’s blood boil. The woman hugs, kisses and laughs with me constantly. I actually got it because she has a young mind but an old heart.

I have to say, the rain bothered me, and if you lived in this house, you would understand. My mom is probably the most organized, neat freak a person can ever meet! Quite frankly, I am surprised she doesn’t wipe me down with Clorox Clean-Ups every time I come in from outside! Anyway, since it was raining, she decided she needed to find different places for half the furniture in our house! I stayed hidden most of the time in case she felt I needed to be on the top shelf of the closet! I do admit our place looks great, but I can still hear the scream of fleeing dust bunnies in my ears!

I love you so much, my San Saba dears! I hope our conversations help to make you feel a little better about your life. Hey, if you are absent a mom who resembles Albert Einstein and a goofy dachshund whose entire world revolves around food, then you are doing pretty well!

Have a wonderful week, and we love you to chicken bits!
