Hey there, San Saba loves, and I say that with the deepest personal meaning! This dachshund has never felt as happy, as loved, or at home, any place he has lived in his life! I adore our little house, exploring my yard, hearing roosters crow, and the beauty of the great expanse of unencumbered sky. Heck, I even let mom sleep until five in the morning instead of waking her up at midnight for breakfast.
Speaking of my yard, if any of you know much about dachshunds, they are normally very vocal dogs, barkers, yappers at the wind, dogs of routine and extremely possessive! Well, the other day, I was doing my cat impersonation in the window thing, saw a big dog roaming in MY yard and turned into a raging lion! Here is the thing... unlike normal dachshunds, I do not bark so mom thought I had lost my mind, and came running! To add insult to injury, I swear that dog looked up at the window, saw me, giggled and continued exploring! I was furious! My yard is my favorite place; what a rude intrusion!! I will not tolerate it; no sir!
Now on to something amazing! I have received more hugs and attention in the two weeks we have lived here than I did in the almost two years I lived in Houston! Every single time one of mom’s friends comes over to the house, I get more hugs than she does! Okay, this will sound conceited, but truth is truth; I am about a billion times cuter than mom. I also make it obvious how much I need to be hugged, noticed, loved; yep, I alpaca whine, whimper, climb in laps, and pretty much get right in faces!
Mom lied to me! She told me one of the things I would love about San Saba is how dry the weather is, so unlike the gulf coast where we were living, and all it has been doing is pouring rain! Mom bought a little pop-up room for our yard and a tarp to protect it from water. Well let me tell ya, it rained so much the water collected in the tarp and collapsed the little room! I told mom I didn’t want to sound like a know it all, but I believed her plan needed some adjusting!
We are so enchanted living here! I don’t even mind mom being busy putting the house together because she is never far away from me. She loves taking me for walks because it is our yard full of grass not sidewalks, and we don’t have to suddenly change directions because an unfriendly dog is walking toward us and his head is bigger than my entire body! Our lives are filled with wonderful people who love, care about us and so willing to be there for us and people we love so very dearly! Yep, we absolutely love you and San Saba to chicken bits!
