Hey there, San Saba loves, and how have you been this past week? I hope life has treated you well and good things happened for you. Although mom and I had a somewhat quiet week, it was interesting.
As many of you know, I have my own Facebook and Instagram page, and while I don’t post every day, sometimes I like to talk about what happens in my life or just be hilarious. As a writer, I love words, and I was watching mom empty an entire jar of mayonnaise into the sink to have the garbage disposal eat it. (She despises it.) I looked up at her, tilted my dachshund head and asked, “ If you put Mayo in a sink, does it automatically become sinko de Mayo?”. I thought the woman was going to choke she was laughing so much!
A British friend and neighbor knocked on our door the other morning around 11:00 and invited both of us to a tea at the apartment community center. She even drove us up to the event as it was already so hot. In true British form, there were cucumber sandwiches and all sorts of teas to be had. We were having a lovely time and then an older lady walked in, sat next us on the couch, and the entire mood changed for me and mom. It seemed every time mom would say something, the woman would respond with a rude, terse, biting comment. She kept saying how she didn’t like dachshunds, and she was so horrid to me! I had never had anyone be mean to me! Mom took the barbs thrown her way with grace, but when the woman was not so gracious with me, I saw real anger rise up, and I think I saw the redhead she once was! Mom did a strange thing though when we got home; she packed up a bunch of frozen shrimp, TV dinners, and stuff she’d bought for dad from the freezer, called the office and asked they bring it to the woman as perhaps she just needed someone to care about her. Mom requested no names be mentioned.
It is my understanding San Saba’s football team is the Armadillos. I see them every single day here; I love them! In fact, just this morning on my walk, I tried to give one a kiss, and it was having none of it and looked at me as if I was insane and ran off! Now, every single time I see one, I think of you guys and I think if I could just hug one I would be hugging you guys! Have a wonderful week, my loves! We love you to chicken bits!!
