KSSB celebrates America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day (ARD) happens each year on November 15, when millions of Americans come together to spread the word on how recycling helps us reduce waste, save energy and conserve precious resources. A nationally recognized day: a day to learn, get inspired, and take action on recycling; a day that you can evaluate your recycling habits

On Friday, November 15, Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB) celebrated ARD in their efforts to bring recycling awareness to this community. Volunteers gifted the community with recycling educational materials such as magnets identifying acceptable recycling items in this community and Take Care of Texas educational coloring books with crayons. Reusable bags, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce, were distributed in KSSB’s efforts to reduce the plastic grocery bags which land along the streets and landfills as were litter prevention items such as Don’t Mess with Texas stickers and litter bags.

Other KSSB efforts were to repurpose the many plastic con-tainers from the numerous plants they planted in the flowerbeds on this day. Those containers and trays were gifted for reuse to the city and a local resident. KSSB challenges you to do your part and look at what YOU can do to help recycle, reduce, reuse, whether it is at home, school, and/or work.

They continue to beautify San Saba by planting new flowers in the downtown flowerpots this week.
