Ten members of SSGC attended the District V Workshop in Mason Tuesday, June 13, serving the delicious breakfast items provided by you, our awesome members, to 70 ladies representing 17 garden clubs from District V. Members present heard from our new District V director, Beth Ervin, who enthusiastically sent the group to various sessions designed to help members in their clubs as officers and ways to promote our clubs and recruit new members. Beth also introduced groups raffling off and selling lush planters and attractive pots along with many pollinator plants, a rake laden with lottery tickets, birdhouses and feeders. A lunch of tasty salads and dessert was served by the Mason Garden Club followed by more sessions. Our local members went home energized and ready to plan the new San Saba Garden Club year ahead! Leftover fruit from breakfast was given to Mission San Saba the following day.
Earlier this month, loud and proud activities occurred at our historic clubhouse where 50 kids age 6-10 enjoyed Kids’ Nature Kamp in our parks for three days. There was fishing, crafting, painting, eating, touring, and learning many wildlife, conservation, and nature lessons from many guides and session leaders.

Susan Kissco, Jan and Paul Beaver added plants to the keyhole garden in the San Saba Rehab Facility backyard this month. Our project there is looking good!
Susan also led our SSGC and other local citizens in challenging our City Council to place an honor memorial intended for Farrel Whitley, past San Saba Parks Department director. Farrel has done so much to beautify and enhance our lovely park area. And now the flowers are in their prime time of the season, so go by and enjoy them and all the water features in our Mill Pond Park!
