The Rev. Phil Steinbach will be the guest preacher at New Hope Presbyterian Church on Sunday, August 18.
Phil likes to say he is now in his third career. He was an employee of IBM for the first 20 years of his professional life, then a pastor in the Methodist Church during the following 20 years, and now in semiretirement he and his wife Deb are co-owners of the beautiful Quilting Quarters store in San Angelo. Phil says the quilt store was his sweet bride's idea, and after she helped him chase his dreams, he thought it only fair that he help her chase her dreams.
Ordained in the Methodist Church, Phil received his theological training at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He notes that he managed to survive his years at the Presbyterian Seminary with his Wesleyan heritage intact – though he and his wife now worship at First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo, where Deb is a soprano in the Chancel Choir. Phil continues to fill Methodist pulpits throughout the West Texas region – but instead of continuing in the tradition of John Wesley’s circuit preaching while traveling from place to place on horseback, he now drives a Mustang convertible. Phil has recently served long-term interim positions in Kerrville, and Robert Lee.
