    What goes into the Grub Sacks

    Local churches and individuals have teamed up to help provide food bags for San Saba County children.

    For several years, “Grub Sacks” have been provided to area children to tide them over with food for over the weekend.

    Money for these muchneeded bags comes only from donations from the community and from local churches. The Salvation Army also donated to the Grub Sack ministry!

    The program serves 55 children each week in both San Saba and Richland Springs. Headed up by former high school principal, Scott Snyder and his wife, Abby, food is purchased in bulk and then packed by a group of volunteers once or twice a semester. The sacks might include shelf-stable milk and individual boxes of cereal, mac and cheese, fruit, meat sticks, soup, Poptarts, and much more. At Spring Break and over Thanksgiving and Christmas, extra items are included.

    If you would like to contribute, you can drop off your donation at City National Bank, or contact Scott at 325-205-9124. Checks can be made out to The St. Stephen’s Fund with GRUB SACKS in the memo line. You can also help pack the bags or donate non-perishable items.
